About the role

PROGRAMME LEAD, £62-78k

This role really is at the heart of our future success. Reporting directly to (and working closely with) the CEO, you’ll be accountable for the delivery of transformation-critical workstreams and programmes which will support the successful delivery of our strategic objectives.

Candidates must demonstrate significant experience of undertaking similar roles, operating credibly at a senior level to influence and embed the full range of plan recommendations. You should also show that you can recruit and manage a project team, and (given that governance arrangements will be jointly held by RSPCA Assured and RSPCA itself) understand how to operate effectively across both small and large organisations. An important early task will be to undertake a close and detailed read of the plan itself, to ensure that you understand the process, can challenge authoritatively where necessary, and suggest alternatives if you think they will help us achieve the objective more effectively.

Your style should be persuasive and collaborative, with the communication and engagement skills to bring colleagues with you, even against competing deadlines and priorities. Personally approachable and highly organised, you must also be visibly self-motivated, self-managing and able to keep on top of your own admin. High levels of homeworking means that leaders need to use appropriate techniques to support dispersed teams to meet deadlines and milestones. Your positive, proactive and tenacious approach will ensure that you consistently deliver what’s needed, on time and to the highest standards; a good metaphor is that you’ll be the conductor, rather than the soloist, of the transformation orchestra.

You must hold a project management qualification, or equivalent experience, and an understanding of standard-setting organisations would be a distinct advantage. Confident and assured (but never at the expense of courteous interactions with colleagues), you’ll have a passion for animals and will be attracted by working for a highly-regarded and ethical organisation. We offer fantastic working conditions (including a dogs at work policy, naturally), as well as excellent professional support, and committed and collaborative colleagues.

Candidates must demonstrate significant experience of undertaking similar roles, operating credibly at a senior level to influence and embed the full range of plan recommendations.
